At the Texas Progressive Policy Institute, we promote information and awareness about Progressivism as a form of governance because we believe it is not well understood by the American people.
We believe Progressivism simply means building an economy and a government that work for everyone, not just a privileged few. It is rooted in democracy, compassion, and the belief that freedom is only real when people have security in their daily lives.
We believe every person deserves health care, a living wage, education without crushing debt, safe housing, clean air and water, and the dignity of meaningful work. These are not handouts; they are the building blocks of a fair and stable society.
Progressivism does not seek to replace capitalism but to make it accountable — to ensure that profit never comes before people. It asks that those who have benefited most contribute their fair share so that no one is left behind.
In short, it is about giving people a genuine voice in the systems that shape their lives. It is democracy extended into the economic and social arenas to foster a government of, by, and for the people in every sense of the word.
Progressivism is not about control; it is about care. It is not about division; it is about shared purpose. It is the idea that a great nation proves its strength by how well it takes care of its people.

Building Opportunities for Lasting Democracy
The B.O.L.D. Civics Program is a nonpartisan civic education initiative of the TPPI that helps young Texans and emerging leaders understand how government works—and how they can work within it to create fair and lasting change. Through interactive online sessions with policymakers, educators, and community advocates, participants gain the knowledge and confidence to engage effectively in the democratic process at every level.
Black Wealth Summit & Hack-A-Thon
